Update from Bath County, 11:30 a.m. Thursday

HOT SPRINGS — Kevin Fry, Bath County’s emergency service director, issued the following statement this morning, Thursday, March 7:

“The winter storm of March 5 has left us with regional problems. We are working with area fire and rescue agencies and monitoring the situation.

“Mountain Grove Community Center is opening at 1 p.m. today as a warming station only.

“Millboro Elementary School is opening at 1 p.m. today as a warming station only.

“There is also a warming station at Mike Puffenbarger’s today (Southernmost Maple).

“Our latest conference call with BARC was encouraging but there are still many areas without power. Worst case scenario: as much as 20 percent of Bath County residents will still be without power tonight.

“Please do not assume that BARC knows your power is out, if you have not reported your outage to BARC please give them a call at (800) 846-2272.”
